Both OLDTIME and Max Rounds were commented out in rancid.conf. I uncommented, changed Max Rounds to 1, and OLDTIME to 4 (Cron job runs once an hour). Guess I can change the IP of one of my devices in router.db to be incorrect and do a manual run to see what happens. Not sure if that will be a fair test though. I may need to change the IP and then wait for the normal nightly run. I will report back my findings. Oh, and my router.db does not have "state", it has been modified (not by me by a consultant) to only list the devices being monitored.
> Forgive my newbiness, but hey, I made Rancid work, so that has to say something. Only issue I am having is with Rancid spamming our network group when there is a router down. It emails like it is supposed to, except it does it every ~2 minutes for an hour. That doesn't seem normal to me, but I couldn't find anything online about it or how to change it.

See OLDTIME in rancid.conf(5) and "state" in router.db(%). but, 2 mins is weird; normally one runs rancid from cron every 1 hour. maybe you have an MTA problem too.
