The following list does not include related external storage FINs, unless they are specific to the system.

Implementation (Impl.):
M
= Mandatory (Fully Pro-Active)

C
= Controlled Pro-Active (per Sun Geo Plan)

R
= Reactive (As Required)

Ultra 5
Ultra 10
Ultra 5/10 systems running an OS earlier than Solaris 8 10/00 (U2) might experience data loss or garbled output to parallel printers when printer cables longer than 10 feet (3 meters) are used.
I0779-1
C
IDE Disk Drives Ultra 5/10 workstations may encounter uncorrectable data errors on IDE disks during boot after using shutdown -y -i5 -g0 command.
I0770-1
R
CD-ROM Booting from CD-ROM on Ultra 5/10 systems might not succeed unless the system OBP is updated.

POWER SUPPLY 200W ULTRA 5 (370-3162-02)
POWER SUPPLY 250W ULTRA 10 (370-3171-02)
POWER SUPPLY 200W A-PFC (370-4326-01)
POWER SUPPLY 250W A-PFC (370-4325-01)
This FIN is to notify the field of a part change on the Sun Ultra 5 or Ultra10 Power Supply Unit. Effective Jan/01/2001, the PSU part number will change from 370-3162-xx/370-3171-xx to 370-4326-xx/370-4325-xx respectively. The new U5/U10 PSU (370-4326-xx/370-4325-xx) is backward compatible. However, the old PSU (P/N# 370-3162-xx/370-3171-xx) is not forward compatible. Both PSU's will be carried as FRU's.

Creator (FFB) and Elite (AFB) Frame Buffers A screen resolution of 1024x768x75 for Creator (FFB) and Elite (AFB) Frame Buffers with any monitors is set incorrectly by the Open Boot PROM.
I0616-1
C
CPU Module Solaris kernel patches provide improved handling and reduction of CPU, Ecache, and main memory errors in UltraSPARC systems. All customers on Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6, 7 and 8 are encouraged to consider upgrading to these kernel patches as they become available.
I0598-1
R
Micron memory (370-3796-02, 370-3797-02, 370-3798-02, 370-3799-02) Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 systems might not boot if Micron memory and OBP 3.25.2 (or earlier) are installed. Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 motherboards with Open BootPROM (OBP) version 3.25.2 AND with 360MHz, 400MHz, or 440MHz CPU modules are not compatible with memory from the Sun supplier Micron. The new Micron MTxLDxx72FG-5 series EDO memory is only compatible with OBP version 3.25.3 (or later).
I0596-1
R
System Boards (375-0079/375-0115) and NVRAM (525-1817)

New NVRAM (525-1817) is incompatible with the Ultra 5/10 system board (375-0079), so a new system board (375-0115) was created for the new NVRAM.

And, approximately 1,200 system boards (375-0115) with the new NVRAM were incorrectly labeled with the 375-0079 part number.

I0577-1
C
Solaris 7, Solaris 2.6, and Solaris 2.5.1 A driver patch is required before you can use mirroring features of Solstice DiskSuite (SDS).
I0568-1
R
IBM DJNA-370910 9.1GB Disk Drive (370-3693-01)

Secondary disk drives won't be recognized with IBM 9 GB disk drive as a primary and both configured with "master".

The documentation states that the drive should be jumpered for "cable select". There are no functional reasons why this drive won't work the way it has been configured (i.e. with the primary drive jumpered as "master") unless the customer installs an x-option listed secondary hard disk drive and that drive is also set to "master". In that case, the second drive won't be recognized. To avoid this situation, jumper both drives with "cable select".

I0535-1
R
440MHz CPU upgrade kit (806-3163-10) Documentation shipped with the Ultra 10 440MHz Upgrade Kit states that the upgrade can also be used in the Ultra 5. This is correct.
I0528-1
C
333MHz UltraSPARC IIi Module, Sapphire Red ( 501-5568) The system board must have the minimum OBP version (3.19v4) installed for the Ultra 5/10 333MHZ Sapphire Red CPU module; otherwise, the system will be non-operational.
I0444-1
R
Creator Series 3 FFB2+ (501-4789-05) Creator Series 3 FFB2+ Cards may fail the SunVTS 2.1.2 ffbtest.
I0416-1
R
Solaris 2.5.1 HW 11/97 and Solaris 2.6 If system configured as an AutoClient or Diskless Client running Solaris 2.5.1 HW 11/97 or Solaris 2.6, the system may hang or crash during boot.
I0415-1
R
Solaris 2.5.1 Hardware 11/97 CD Some copies of the Solaris 2.5.1 Hardware 11/97 CD will not boot on Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 systems.

System Board Ultra5 and Ultra10 systems may experience fuzzy video, slow booting, and serial port hang when using the external clock source as transfer clock in SYNC mode (X.25).

Provides same information as FCO A0128-2. It has additional information about the PROM update to 3.11, version 9.

Dual Single-Ended Ultra/Wide SCSI, PCI (375-0005); Dual Differential Ultra/Wide SCSI, PCI (375-0006) Ultra 5/10 systems may encounter errors when booting from SCSI devices attached to Dual Ultra SCSI PCI cards.
I0385-1

4.3 GB disk drive (370-3176-01) or add-on IDE disk drives After adding or replacing a disk drive, the following error occurs when attempting to use the format utility: "corrupt label - wrong magic number". This means that the new disk drive is unlabeled. The disk must be labeled before it can be formatted.
