PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

This release of the FCO (FCO_A0128-2) adds a third problem and the associated
corrective action.

From FCO_A0128-1:

This FCO addresses two problems currently being experienced on this product;

1) System takes a long time to boot. System running Power On Self-Test even
though the diag-switch in the NVRAM was set to `false'. The boot counter
also was not incrementing as the number of power-cycles value could not be
updated for every new power cycle of the machine.

Root cause has been attributed to an unnecessary pull-up resistor (R310 a
location 0603) on the motherboard affecting the PWRGD2 signal from the power
supply. This could cause the system to reset too early and start to access
TOD before the TOD becomes enabled. This resistor was removed via ECO#
WO_12616 on motherboards 375-0009-05 available in manufacturing since
   mid-February 1998.

2) Fuzzy video display on color monitors. The character edges are not sharp
and appear smeared to the right of the character. This gives dark text on
a white background a fuzzy or "dirty" appearance.

Root cause has been attributed to video circuitry on the motherboard. The
corrective action has been implemented via ECO# WO_12861 on motherboards
375-0009-07 available in manufacturing since mid-April 1998. Additionally,
any system with a serial number equal to or greater than xW817ssssss is
not affected as they will contain a -07 or later motherboard.

   The system serial number can be interpreted as follows;

     xW817ssssss

     1st digit: Manufacturing site
     2nd digit: W - Workstation
     3rd digit: Calendar year
4th and 5th digit: Calendar week
     last six digits: serial number

3) System may experience a serial port hang when using external clock source
as transfer clock in SYNC mode (X.25).

Due to the voltage drop across the 4.7K serial resistor, the output of the
clock driver (UC5180 at location U4) could not obtain a logic-low voltage
at the input of 74F04 (at location U43A) thus causing the serial port's
   external clock input to fail.

Corrective action was to replace the 74F04 at location U43A with a 74ACT04
(p/n 100-2448-01) which rolls the Ultra 5/10 motherboard from 375-0009-07
to 375-0009-08. This corrective action was implemented via ECO# WO_13038
on motherboards 375-0009-08 available in manufacturing since May 15, 1998.
Any system with a serial number equal to or greater than xW822ssssss is
not affected as they will contain a -08 or later motherboard. Logistics
corrective action was implemented via LEAP_884 on May 15, 1998.
