PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

When removing the pre-installed CD-ROM drive and installing the DDS-3 tape
drive option (X6286A) in either the Enterprise 420R or Enterprise 220R
chassis you will find that the peripheral D.C. power cable (530-2864-02)
is too short to allow the tape drive to be connected to D.C. power.

All Enterprise 420R or Enterprise 220R systems which shipped prior to
February 22, 2000 are affected when the DDS-3 tape drive option is to
be installed.

Root cause determined that the D.C. power cable (530-2864-02) was too short
to connect up to the DDS-3 tape drive option and the power cable had to be
lengthened by 3-inches and dash rolled to -03.

Corrective action was implemented in Manufacturing on February 22, 2000
by releasing the longer D.C. power cable (530-2864-03) in the Enterprise
420R and Enterprise 220R chassis via ECO# WO_16869.

Corrective action was implemented in Enterprise Services by making a
D.C. power cable extender cable (530-2502-01) available as a FRU via
ECO# WO_11259.

IMPLEMENTATION:

REPLACEMENT TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

CORRECTIVE ACTION:
