PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

During the installation or upgrade of 400MHZ CPU Modules (X1194A)
of Sun Enterprise 250 systems, the CPU modules may become damaged
upon insertion into the plastic module guides.

This potential problem is due to a small number of Enterprise 250
systems that may have been shipped with the black plastic CPU module
guides within the module cage on the hurdle board, could have a
deformity on the spring face or reached the max. spec. condition
whereby the module comes into contact with guide causing component
damage (typically to L1401).

IMPLEMENTATION:

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Customers and Field Service Representatives either installing or
upgrading Enterprise 250 400mhz CPU Modules (X1194A) can avoid
possible damage to the 400mhz CPUs by following the recommendation
shown below:

Each X1194A option includes a pair of new CPU guides, CPU
module and a Read Me First Doc. Follow the recommendation
in the Read Me First Doc. and install to new CPU guides in-
cluded with the X-Option prior to installing the new 400mhz
    CPU Module(s).
