MANUAL: 805-7556-10 (Sun StorEdge RAID Manager 6.22 Installation Guide)
           805-7558-11 (Sun StorEdge RAID Manager 6.22 Release Notes)

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

RAID Manager 6 is currently not supported on Solaris 8, attempting to
boot Solaris 8 with RM 6.22 installed will produce an error message as
shown below;

   "rdriver not loading, ie "drvconfig: driver failed to attach:
rdriver".

This means that the data on A3x00/A1000 arrays will not be accessible under
Solaris 8. This applies to all versions of RM 6.0, 6.1, 6.1.1, and
6.22 when running Solaris 8.

Upon further investigation, the rdriver depended upon kernel structures
which changed in Solaris 8, so a new rdriver is required for Solaris 8
to correct the RM 6 compatibility issue.

Update for FIN I0566-2;
-----------------------
In this -2, the following has been updated to FINI0566-1;

   The A1000 storage array product has been affected but was not stated on
   the -1 FIN. Therefore, A1000 has been added on the PRODUCT REFERENCES,
   X-OPTIONS AFFECTED, PROBLEM DESCRIPTION, and CORRECTIVE ACTION section.

IMPLEMENTATION:

         ---
        |   |   MANDATORY (Fully Pro-Active)
         ---

         ---
        | | CONTROLLED PRO-ACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
         ---

         ---
        | X |   REACTIVE (As Required)
         ---

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Enterprise Customers and authorized Field Service Representatives may
avoid the above mentioned problem by following the recommendation as
shown below;

Install patchId 108553-XX. Patch 108553-XX is a Solaris 8 patch which
must be installed after the installation of Solaris 8. Raid Manager
6.22 must be installed before the patch is applied. The patch
contains explicit directions for installing the necessary rdriver.

The current version of firmware included in RM 6.22, 03.01.02.xx.apd,
needs to be installed as part of the normal RM 6.22 installation.

The purpose of the patch 108553-XX is for users running on Solaris 8.

Installation instruction scenarios:

1. Installation of patch 108553-XX after a full initial install of Solaris 8.

      full initial install of Solaris 8
      install RM6.22
      install patch 108553
      boot -r
      If you have existing A3x00/A1000 LUNs other than zero:
        genscsiconf
        hot_add
        boot -r
      endif

2. Installation of patch 108553-XX after upgrade install of Solaris 8.

      upgrade install Solaris 8
      boot -r
      If you don't have RM 6.22
         Install RM 6.22 and patch 108553
         boot -r
      else
         Install patch 108553
      endif
      genscsiconf
      hot_add
      boot -r

Note: Warning messages may be displayed during the boot stating that
      forceload of /kernel/drv/rdriver failed. These messages should
      be ignored.
