PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Approximately 1200 Sun Blade 150 systems were shipped with the correct
DIMMs, however, the DIMMs were labeled with Sun Blade 100 part
numbers. The mislabeled DIMMs are fully functional and will not impact
the operation of the system in any way as a result of the mislabeling.
This problem will have no impact to customers, but this FIN is being
released to notify Field personnel about the discrepancy.
Affected systems include any Sun Blade 150 which has DIMMs installed
with any of the following Sun Blade 100 part numbers:
F370-4149-01 128MB SDRAM DIMM
F370-4150-01 256MB SDRAM DIMM
F370-4151-01 512MB SDRAM DIMM
The Sun Blade 150 was designed to leverage the Sun Blade 100 DIMMs. An
incompatibility was discovered with the DIMMs just prior to Revenue
Release. Due to a process breakdown, Sun Blade 150 DIMMs were
installed correctly in Sun Blade 150 systems, but the first version of
the DIMMs were labeled incorrectly with the Sun Blade 100 part
numbers.
This problem has been resolved with the implementation of DIMM part
numbers which are specific to the Sun Blade 150. The new part numbers
were released with ECO WO_24832. The new part numbers are:
F370-5676-01 128MB SDRAM DIMM
F370-5677-01 256MB SDRAM DIMM
F370-5678-01 512MB SDRAM DIMM

CORRECTIVE ACTION:
The following recommendation is provided as a guideline for authorized
Sun Services Field Representatives who may encounter the above
mentioned problem.
If a customer experiences DIMM failures on Sun Blade 150 systems, DIMMs
should be replaced using part numbers listed in the online
documentation, i.e., the Sun System Handbook:

Implementation Footnote:
i) In case of MANDATORY FINs, Sun Services will attempt to contact
all affected customers to recommend implementation of the FIN.
ii) For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Sun Services mission critical
support teams will recommend implementation of the FIN (to their
respective accounts), at the convenience of the customer.
iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Sun Services will implement the FIN as the
need arises.
