Description

INTERNAL SUMMARY:

The following information supersedes the information presented in the section "About the Clock Mode Select Jumper" in the Ultra Enterprise 450 Server Owner's Guide. Contrary to the table in that section, the new Sun Enterprise 450 server main logic board (Part # 501-5673) uses the clock mode select jumpers J2701 and J2702.

Set the clock mode jumper shunts at addresses J2701 and J2702 to correspond to the speed of your UltraSPARC II CPU modules. Both of these jumpers are located in the upper left hand quadrant of the system board approximately halfway between the external 100base-TX port and the processor module slots. Verify that the jumper setting is correct before starting the system.

Serious system damage can result if the main logic board clock mode jumpers are set incorrectly. Also, if these jumpers are set incorrectly, the system may display the processors as being of an incorrect speed. For example, 400 MHz modules installed in an E450 with the incorrect jumper settings may display the modules as 450MHz with the prtdiag command.

Note: This information is from the "Sun Enterprise 450 Server Board Upgrade Guide" (Part # 806-4667).

CPU Speed Jumper J2701 Jumper J2702
250 MHz 1 + 2 2 + 3
300 MHz 1 + 2 2 + 3
400 MHz 2 + 3 2 + 3
480 MHz 2 + 3 1 + 2
