24715   T3-Setting the Date, Time and Time Zone   21 Aug 2001

Status Issued

Description

The time zone and date accuracy is essential for proper T3 administration. The date and time zone will affect the scheduling daemon, and since data logging on the unit is done at local time, an incorrect date/time will confuse any effort to time-line a problem.

From the T3 master, run the tzset command to set the time zone

T300-Master:/:<1> tzset GMT-0700

From the T3 master, run the date command to set up the current date.

usage: date [yyyymmddhhmm[.ss]]

T300-Master:/:<2> date 200011151143

(GMT-0700 is MST. The tzset time zone should always match the time zone on the management host)

Run the date command to verify that the date and time are current and correct.

T300-Master:/:<3> date

Sun Nov 15:11:43 2000
