Description

What are the hot-plug procedures for replacing a faulty disk on a SPARCstorage array and SPARCstorage RSM disk system?

1. Become su

2. Identify activities or application attached to the device you plan to remove.

3. Stop all activity or application process on the file system to be removed.

4. Back up your system.

5. Determine what file system are on the disk.

6. Determine and save the partion table for the disk.

7. Unmount all file system on the disk.

8. Use the ssaadm replace_device command to take the device online.

Example: # ssaadm replace_device /dev/rdsk/c0t11d0s2

Bus is ready for the replacement device

Replace device and reconfigure bus as needed

Press RETURN when ready to confinue.

9 Remove the faulty disk device and insert the replacement drive in its place.

10 Press Return to complete the hot-plug operation.

11. Verify that the device partition table satisfies the requirements of the file systems.

12. Create new file systems on the new devices.

13. Mount the new file system using the mount command.
