Status Issued

Description

Configuring Controlled Access Mode in utconfig:

utconfig prompts user to enter the number of CAM users and a numeric range of unallocated UIDs for anonymous CAM users. By not overestimating the number of CAM users, the utconfig script will run quickly and more efficiently. However, underestimation of the number of CAM users can result in degenerate behavior in a Failover Group. You must configure enough CAM users to account for all the CAM sessions you expect to host within your Failover group.

If more CAM users need to be set up, the admin may simply run /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utconfig again, allocating a larger number of users.

These are the command line interfaces:

Configure Controlled Access Mode? ([y]/n)?

Previous configuration exists - would you like to reconfigure? ([y]/n)?

Enter user prefix [utcu]:

Enter userID range start [150000]:

Enter number of users [25]:

The Controlled Browser sub-feature of Controlled Access Mode only runs on Solaris 8.

If you're using an OS other than Solaris 8 for Controlled Access Mode, use the Administration Tool to delete 000.netscape from the Applications to Launch listbox. You must also confirm your change in the Administration Tool.

Failover: Controlled Access Mode using the default Controlled

Browser should only be enabled in failover groups in which

all servers are running the Solaris 8 operating environment.

If Controlled Access Mode with Controlled Browser is run in the Solaris 2.6 or 7 operating environments, an error dialog box is displayed with a Dismiss button that informs the user that Controlled Browser requires the Solaris 8 operating environment.

- In order for the Controlled Browser feature to work properly, the Sun Ray server must have DNS enabled. This can be done by setting up the file /etc/resolv.conf on the system. The file format is as follows:

domain {DNS domain name}

nameserver {DNS server IP address}

nameserver {backup DNS server IP address if available}

An example of this file is as follows:

domain sun.com

nameserver 100.111.1.110

nameserver 100.111.1.111

nameserver 100.111.1.112

More information on resolv.conf can be found on its man page `man resolv.conf`.
