The following is the information regarding the install, upgrade, and uninstall of the Install Sun Ray Server Software 1.3.

Install: utinstall

# /cdrom/cdrom0/utinstall (after installation of the server software the path will be /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utinstall)

• Provides a controlled installation of software.

Upgrade: utinstall script

• utpreserve preserves configuration data.
• utinstall uses this data during upgrade.
• The backup includes LDAP and SWS configuration.
• LDAP datastore: user registration, desktop info, policy, multihead membership, failover group configuration.
• Sun Ray system configuration files (Authentication Manager's properties, settings, preferences, etc.)
• Archive is stored in /var/tmp/SUNWut.upgrade/preserve.<Sun_Ray_Version>.tar.Z

It is recommended that a archival copy be stored on another server to be safe - one that could be used even after reinstalling the OS.

Un-install: utinstall -u

• Also removes SunDS and SWS components.

All upgrade paths from Sun ray server software version 1.0 are supported.
