40487   How to configure applications using the CAM for kiosk users on the Sun Ray (TM) Server   20 Dec 2001

Status Issued

Description

Kiosk users would be able to access ONLY the applications that are made available to them by the System Administrator. The Sun Ray (TM) Server System Administrator can set the preference for every application that can be accessed by the user.

On the Add/Edit Apps Screen of the Sun Ray Administration GUI, the System Administrator would have the choice of either Critical, Menu or Default attributes.

Applications with critical attributes launch automatically at startup and they restart if the application crashes or terminates. In fact, the session gets reset if the application dies or if it is killed.

Applications with menu attributes can be launched via the menu. They do not start at the start of a new session. The applications can be killed without losing the session, unlike the critical applications.

Applications with default attributes launch automatically and these are available in the menu, but don't restart on exit. The applications can be killed without losing the session unlike the critical applications, while these are available in the menu.

The System Administrator can choose among these attributes against each application.
