After upgrading a 3.1 SSP to SSP 3.1.1, netcon_server fails to start with the following error message:

syslog: VerExec: ERR: VerExecApp.cc, 261: netcon_server error:

ps -ef | grep netcon shows no netcon and no netcon_server

This problem can be resolved by one of two methods:

Method 1

Check that the OS version in

$SSPVAR/.ssp_private/domain_config

file is 5.x not 2.x

Method 2

Create the following link from 2 to 5 in:

/opt/SUNWssp/release/Ultra-Enterprise-10000

ln -s 5 2
