24507   T3 - Enabling mp_support pSOS variable for DMP or AP   2 Aug 2001

Status Issued

Description

When initially setting up the T3 (Purple) Storage Array, the pSOS variable mp_support is set to none by default. If you're going to be utilizing DMP for Volume Manager or Solaris' AP, MPXIO, and/or STD, this variable needs to be changed to rw (read - write). Even if you're not planning on utilizing DMP, AP, MPXIO, or STD setting this variable to rw will not cause any ill behavior.

You can use the 'sys list' command to show the pSOS variables as they are currently configured. You should see something like: (the following is not a complete list) :

T300-Master:/:<1>sys list

blocksize :16k

autodisable :on

autorecon :on

mp_support :none

...

SOLUTION SUMMARY:

You can issue the command 'sys mp_support rw' to change the value from none to rw.

T300-Master:/:<1>sys mp_support rw

You can then enter the 'sys list' command and the value should now be set to rw. This should be all that is needed in order for DMP, AP, MPXIO, or STD to be used.

Note: You can change this setting at any time. Also, once these variables are set, they are for the entire partner group, not just one single tray.
