26844   Sun Fire (3800-6800): setdefaults does not reset local-mac-address? parameter   14 Aug 2001

Status Issued

Description

The Sun Fire SC setdefaults command does not do anything with the local-mac-address? OBP variable

SOLUTION SUMMARY:

ScApp does not store any OBP parameters initially. When a property is changed, OBP asks ScApp to save this information. ScApp treats the data as opaque and does not interpret it in any way. When OBP starts, it asks ScApp for a list of arbitrary properties. If a property is returned, OBP uses it. Otherwise OBP just uses a hardcoded default value. In other words, the ScApp setdefaults command does not know the names of any OBP properties which are private to OBP. Since ScApp doesn't know the properties, it cannot set them to default values.
