27223   RM6 error during bootup: The message definition file was not found   26 Jun 2001

Status Issued

Description
When a Server is booted with any one of the Hardware RAID product arrays
attached, Raid Manager (any version) is loaded on the system
and will start up during the boot process. Included in the startup
of Raid Manager is the execution of the /etc/init.d/amdemon script.
When the script is executed, it will report the following error....

The message definition file was not found.c1t5d0s01T95126181
The message definition file was not found.

The system completes its bootup and everything appears to be OK
with RM6. Health check passes, luns are optimal and there is access
to data.

SOLUTION SUMMARY:
The error messages are generated when an nvutil command is executed
from the /etc/init.d/amdemon script. The command is ...

          /usr/lib/osa/bin/nvutil -v -f

The cause of the problem is with the /usr/lib/osa/messages.cat file.
This binary file is either missing or corrupt. It appears to have a lot
of the messages and dialogue pop-up strings you would see when
administering RM6 from the GUI. The solution is to restore the file from backup
or from the Raid Manager Media. Once restored, re-execute
/usr/lib/osa/bin/nvutil -v -f command. You should see the expected output....

The NVSRAM settings of controller c1t5d0s0(1T95126181) are correct.
nvutil command succeeded.
