47471   Sun StorEdge[TM] 9900:Symptom:Command Device Type does not show Label Correctly in Format for 9900v System   13 Nov 2002

Status Issued

Description

As part of True Copy or Shadowimage Raid Manager CCI, the procedure requires a command device to be created.

Map a lun.

It is required that you make this device a"command device".

Forget to make it a "command device" in Storage Navigator.

On Solaris system issue "devfsadm"; see the lun.

Once labeled, it is missing the required "CM" in the label name, ex:

c2t0d0 <HITACHI - Open-3 - CVS - 0112 cyl...

So go back into Storage Navigator and select the mapped lun and make it a "command device".

devfsadm

The label is the same.

Remapping the same cu:ldev device to the lun will not clear the label.

SOLUTION SUMMARY:

Solution section

Two options:

1. after changing the device to "command device"

devfsadm

dd over the label for c2t0d0s2

format and type

2. choose another cu:ldev to map to lun

devfsadm

format label

now the label should say:

c2t0d0 <HITACHI - Open-3 - CVS - CM-0112 cyl...
