- Problem Statement: 

SC POST fails RIO EBus 2 tests after SUNvts has been run on the system controller.

- Symptoms:      

System Controller Power On Self Test Failed. Cause: CP1500 POST Passed; SC POST v1.18 Failed,
Test 2: RIO EBus2 Tests, Subtest 6: RIO EBus2 IChip Test

A. SMS fails to start after running SUNvts on the system controller due to the following
SSCpost failure:

B. The following error is posted to the SC console due to the above failure:

ifconfig: plumb: eri1: Bad file number
WARNING: man_open_ctl: eri open failed, error 6
ifconfig: plumb: scman0: Bad file number
configuring IPv4 interfaces: hme0 scman1.
moving addresses from failed IPv4 interfaces: eri1 (moved to hme0) scman0 
 (couldn't move, no alternative interface).

C. A software reset of the system controller does not clear the condition.            

- Troubleshooting:

A. If the above SC Post failure occurs, determine:

 - Was SUNvts running on the SC?

 - Were any FRU exchanges occurring?  

 - Was there any attempt to re-seat the system controller?

B. If SUNvts was running on the system controller prior to this failure occurring,
a hard POR (power-on reset) is required to clear the condition. You must power cycle
the SC. From the Main SC, use the poweroff/poweron command to cycle power on the failing
SC. If it is the Main SC which is failing, use the circuit breaker which controls the
SCMB. It is not necessary to cycle power on the SCPER board. 

C. If this failure is persistent after a power cycle of the system controller, then the
failure is not due to SUNvts and a swap of the system controller may be required.

- Resolution:

A.  Currently, there is no permanent resolution to the problem. The issue is being
investigated by PDE via esc 539212.
