SOLUTION SUMMARY:
- Troubleshooting:

See the messages in the /var/opt/SUNWSMS/SMS1.2/adm/platform/messages file.

- Resolution:

These errors can be safely ignored.

This problem is being addressed by SMS bug 4674732.

The checkpoint files are propagated as "normal" files and are subject to a maximum one
minute delay before being propagated. However, the checkpoint file can be flagged for
propagation but cleared by the requestor before the propagation can occur. This causes
the error message "unable to create transfer file".

- Summary of part number and patch ID's

Fixed in SMS 1.2 in patch 112481-04

- Additional background information:

A typical process of checkpoint file transfer is:

1. SMS daemon requests a checkpoint. The checkpoint is created in the form of a
WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ file. (Example : 6.1.1.0)

2. Once created, fomd is sent an event and the WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ file is added to the
propagation queue. (Example : /var/opt/SUNWSMS/data/.failover/chkpt/6.1.1.0)

3. Before the fomd propagation thread can awaken, the requestor of the checkpoint asks
that the checkpoint be removed. (The event that required the checkpoint is now
finished). The checkpoint WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ file is deleted.

4. The fomd propagation thread awakens, reads the propagation queue and gets the
WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ file. However, the file is deleted in step 3, and no longer exists.
The error message is then displayed as "unable to create transfer file".
