If I use this config: add password core-5 password add user core-5 username add method core-5 ssh add method core-5 {ssh:-2222} add autoenable core-5 {1} I get this: %clogin core-5 core-5 spawn ssh -c 3des -x -l admin core-5 ssh: connect to host core-5.lodden.com port 22: Connection refused Error: Connection Refused (ssh): core-5 % I can work around this with: add sshcmd core-5 {ssh -p 2222} which gives me a login prompt, but the prompt is "nonresponsive." Anything I type doesn't go into the router; it appears on the Unix command line, after the connection times out. Any suggestions, folks? Thanks, ==ml -- Michael W. If you look at the code it looks like it's supposed to append '+ct' to your username when you log in which disables color (c) and terminal autodetection (t) per changelog: http://www.mikrotik.com/download/CHANGELOG_3 I did a clogin test using ssh and I had the same issue. Doing it over telnet does let me interact with the device. However, rancid-run -r does work properly. --Chris From Clarke.Wardle at synetrix.co.uk Mon Dec 6 12:34:17 2010 From: Clarke.Wardle at synetrix.co.uk (Clarke.Wardle at synetrix.co.uk) Date: Mon, 6 Dec 2010 12:34:17 +0000 Subject: [rancid] Problems getting some configs Message-ID: <4B8F703AAAD8294EB73E10DFCBBDF15980DD52@FMAIL-CCR.synetrixhl.local> Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help with an issue we currently have. I wound up with the following working configuration: add password core-5 YourPasswordHere add user core-5 username+ct add method core-5 ssh add sshcmd core-5 {/usr/local/scripts/microtiklogin.sh} add noenable core-5 {1} sshcmd apparently doesn't handle spaces well, so I had to use an external script. The sshcmd script is just: #!/bin/sh exec ssh -p 2222 $@ I guess that the SSH username part of mtlogin doesn't add +ct correctly. ==ml On Fri, Dec 03, 2010 at 02:07:14PM -0600, Chris Wopat wrote: > Michael, > > I wonder if the issue has something to do with the Mikrotik doing a > color terminal by default? The script version I have attached is v1.1.1.1 and this will disable paging and then enable it again when the script has finished. I have added a couple of lines to enter the global configuration mode for use with vdoms and this seems to work OK, but I am still testing. I have attached the script I am using, I have tested it on FortiOS 3.0 and 4.0. You must use an admin user account on the Fortigate to change the pager settings. I can actually answer a question! The ciscowlc5 script uses the command show running-config... but for some reason in the 193 code (5.2.193.0) it doesn't like that and outputs some unwanted text: (Cisco Controller) >show running-config Notice: "show running-config" has been changed to be an alias to "show run-config". Use "show run-config commands" to display the configuration commands. Press Enter to continue or to abort... So to fix this I made a separate script which uses a different command table with using the show run-config commands to output the proper commands. I made one file called ciscowlc151 for the normal command table: @commandtable = ( {'show udi' => 'ShowUdi'}, {'show sysinfo' => 'ShowSysinfo'}, {'show running-config' => 'ShowConfig'} And made another file called ciscowlc193 for the 5.2.193.0 code: @commandtable = ( {'show udi' => 'ShowUdi'}, {'show sysinfo' => 'ShowSysinfo'}, {'show running-config' => 'ShowConfig'} Then I just added some new rancid-fe device types >'cisco-wlc193' => 'ciscowlc193', >'cisco-wlc151' => 'ciscowlc151', This allows you to have both code versions in the same environment. I have not tested this on any other versions of code but 5.2.151 and 5.2.193 to see if anything else is a problem. I found this by running the rancid in verbose mode so that I saw the error text come up that was causing the timeout. I have tested clogin script, which works fine and takes me to the privilege mode after giving all credentials - vty username/password and enable password. Hello Mel,

I haven't done it personally though I'm sure it's possible as long as you use the autoenable feature as when you ssh into the box you'll be in privileged mode.

That being said, there's not a whole lot of information in the console. Just IP addressing, syslog, SNMP.. etc... Nothing that really pertains to the operation of the authentication agents so make sure that you're backing up the ACS/TACACS database as well as the RANCID backups.

Cheers,

Hi Michael,

I have run into the same issue and have fixed this by replacing the
autoenable command by noenable. The device ( I believe it was an
ACE-context, but I could be wrong here) doesn't support the enable command
and its rancid process will be waiting for the enable password: prompt
untill it times out.

Somehow, simply removing the autoenable command doesn't work. I'm not sure
why.
Could someone please explain this?

Greetz,

Remy

Oops, Sorry.
I was too quick to answer and didn't read all of the question.

If these are "standard" Cisco switches, like 2900 Series or whatever, clogin
should be able to enable the privileged mode.

What happens when you set the autoenable to 0 (or remove the statement
completely) AND remove the enable-password from the password statement?
Does clogin still hang or are you getting a "normal" prompt that does
respond to commands?
Can you then enable the privileged mode on the switch after having clogin
log into the switch?

Please ensure the enable-password is correct and you have clogin connect to
the right switch.

Maybe you could post the command that clogin spawns to log into the switch
and all the output after that?

Greetz again,
Remy

Sorry to spam you, but this issue sounds a lot like the one in the next

).

Do you also run version 2.3.2a9?

Message-ID: <7E954E0B2F4C5B409194643A738074087FC30C@SG-Exchange.seccom.local>

Guys

I have had Rancid working fine with extreme switches and have now run into some issues, it looks as if its running the commands as when I do a
./xrancid -d x.x.x.x

It is creating the x.x.x.x.new file and the config is in there, however it looks like its not matching the end of the configuration and therefore not taking the x.x.x.new file and doing what its meant to.

Has anyone seen this before and able to help at all?

See below output {address changed of course}

rancid at sydnms001:~/bin$ ./xrancid -d 1.2.3.4
executing clogin -t 90 -c "show configuration" 1.2.3.4
PROMPT MATCH: Switch[:.]\d+ ?#
HIT COMMAND: Switch.3 # show configuration
In WriteTerm: Switch.3 # show configuration
1.2.3.4: End of run not found
1.2.3.4: End of run not found
#

Kind Regards

Chris Kilian

ios or catos should work.

you want to test that clogin can get enabled mode and run commands, as in
the FAQ.

Ok..Copied the files.
What do I need to edit in rancid for it to pull/recognize these new
files?

No problem at all. Glad it was useful. I may actually have some
questions for you off list if you're up for it.
