PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The AC input box "Sequencer" and power cord have metal castings which
are unearthed and may not be adequately insulated from AC wiring
pursuant to UL1950/EN60950 international safety standard. International safety
standards, such as EN60950, allow for unearthed metal as long as primary
circuits and unearthed metal are separated by supplemental insulation.
Sequencer p/n 300-1290-02 and power cord p/n's 530-2266-01 and 530-2265-01
used on rack systems do not contain the supplemental insulation and so do
not meet this requirement.
Sun Operations has implemented Engineering Change Orders to rework both
the Power cables and Sequencer parts on all shipments effective Feb 20, 1997.
These engineering changes have received Agency UL approvals and with the
replacement of the power cable and sequencer at customer sites, the product
will be restored to compliance with the International safety standard
EN 60950 and UL1950.
