PROBLEM DESCRIPTION :
All Sun Fire 15K and Sun Fire 12K systems with older fan tray
(part number 540-4050-xx) can not support the addition of the
MaxCPU board (xoption X4525A) due to additional heat being
generated by this option.
Any Sun Fire 15K or Sun Fire 12K system shipped prior to
April 22, 2002 will require replacement of all fan trays
in order to support MaxCPU boards.
Root Cause of this issue is that the current Fan Tray Assemblies
do not provide sufficient thermal cooling headroom required for
utilization of MaxCPU boards.
Corrective Action was made available in Manufacturing via ECO# W0_24030
on May 03, 2002 by releasing part number 540-5304-02. Corrective action
was made available in Enterprise Services releasing LEAP 1996 as of
May 09, 2002.
