PROBLEM DESCRIPTION :
Sun LX50 systems may fail DOA at installation with a solid Amber LED.
This failure is not recoverable and typically occurs during system
installation.
Affected systems shipped from Sun between July 26th, 2002 and
October 11th, 2002. A list of impacted system serial numbers
is shown below. No xoptions or FRU/CRUs are affected.

Root cause determined that a mold temperature sensor malfunctioned at
the heatsink supplier, which allowed the resin temperature to exceed
it's specification, which in turn produced degraded (weaker) heatsink
clips. The malfunction was corrected but some affected material did
escape to the system assembly vendor. These potentially degraded
heatsink clips were subsequently installed into LX50 systems.
Corrective action was put in place at the sub-tier supplier, and all
systems at the assembly vendor were checked and reworked as needed
per Intel Technical Advisory TA-600-4.
Corrective action was put in place at the repair vendor by providing
rework instructions per Intel Technical Advisory, TA-600-4. This
advisory can be viewed at the below URL;
