PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

SMCC is currently shipping Sun Enterprise Library Monitor 1.0 (LibMON)
bundled with the Sun StorEdge tape libraries that are identified above.
At this time LibMON 1.0 is NOT compatible with any version of Solaris 2.6.
Thus, customers using Sun StorEdge tape libraries on systems installed
with Solaris 2.6 will be unable to use LibMON 1.0.

In response to the above stated problem with LibMON 1.0 and Solaris 2.6
compatibility, Patch ID# 105850 was released in order to resolve the
issue. Subsequently, after the release of Patch ID# 105850 several
escalations have occurred which involved the installation of the patch.

This UPDATED FIN has been released with the intent to issue an ALERT to
all customers and Field Service Representatives that plan to install
Patch ID# 105850. If the patch is installed in the /tmp directory
the following error will be encountered:

	# ./installpatch

WARNING: /usr/sbin/patchadd is being used to install this patch.
Installpatch will be removed from Solaris patches in
          the next release of Solaris.

 	Checking installed packages and patches...
 	Executing prepatch script...
Saving old preremove script to tmp ...
Verifying sufficient filesystem capacity (dry run method)...
 	Installing patch packages...
Installation of patch number 105850 has been suspended.
 	Executing postpatch script...
 	Extracting JRE from archive ...
 	mv: cannot access /opt/SUNWlmon/JRE-1.1.5.tar
tar: /tmp/JRE6786: No such file or directory
 	Removing old '/var/opt/SUNWlmon' ...
Creating database and log dir ...
 	Modifying server start scripts ...
 	Modifying server stop scripts ...

 	Removing obsolete CLIENTROOT files ...
     cat: cannot open /var/sadm/pkg/SUNWlmon/install/deletes_CLIENTROOT

 	Patch packages installed:
   	SUNWlmon

Upon further investigation of the above stated patch install problem, it
has been noted that the prebackout script uses the directory /tmp/105850-01
as a temporary file area. The prebackout script overwrites information in
the "105850-01/SUNWlmon" area which causes the installation to suspend
and
fail.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Customers and Field Service Representatives that have a need to utilize
LibMON 1.0 on Sun StorEdge tape libraries that are hosted by systems
running Solaris 2.6 are prompted to follow the recommendation below
for successful Patch ID# 105850 installation.

1. When installing patch 105850, do NOT use the "/tmp" directory as
the
temporary patch directory. This will cause the patch installation to
   suspend and fail.

2. If you must install from the "/tmp" directory. First create a
   "patch_install" sub-directory and copy the tape archive/compress
patch
file into the created sub-directory. Then follow the patch installation
   procedures.
