PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A small quantity of A1000/D1000 rackmount kits (X9653A) have been
recently shipped to customer sites with an insufficient amount of
screws needed to properly complete the rackmount installation. The
affected rackmount kits (X9653A) shipped with four (4) installation
screws as opposed to the twenty (20) screws that are needed for the
installation.
In addition, the Sun StorEdge A1000/D1000 rackmount installation
manual (805-2626-10) incorrectly illustrates that only four (4)
screws are needed to complete the A1000/D1000 rackmount installa-
tion.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:
The Network Storage Product Team supporting the A1000/D1000 has pre-
paired an upgrade kit consisting of the required number of screws
and a revised installation manual.
The rackmount installation upgrade kit includes:
1. Qty 1 Mounting Tray
2. Qty 2 Mounting Brackets
3. Qty 1 805-2626-11 StorEdge A1000/D1000 Rackmount Installation Guide
4. 20 Screws: Qty 16 #10-32x1/2 and Qty 4 #10-14x7/16
Sun Sales and Marketing teams are currently providing their customers
with the FREE upgrade kit.
However, the kit is not available through normal Sun distribution
channels. Thus, Enterprise Services customers and Enterprise Services
Field Service personnel that encounter the effected rackmount kit
(X9653A) are advised to contact:

The Mechanical Engineering team will ship the rackmount upgrade kit
via Federal Express FREE of charge to the customer site.

i) In case of MANDATORY FINs, Enterprise Services will attempt to contact
all affected customers to recommend implementation of the FIN.
ii) For CONTROLLED PROACTIVE FINs, Enterprise Services mission critical sup-
port teams will recommend implementation of the FIN (to their respective
accounts), at the convenience of the customer.
iii) For REACTIVE FINs, Enterprise Services will implement the FIN as the
need arises.
