Identifying motherboards in the Ultra 5/10 |
|
21 Jun 2000 |
The Ultra 5/10 was shipped with three different motherboards.
Speed System Motherboards shipped
--------------------------------------------------------------
270MHz Ultra 5 375-0009 , 375-0066 & 375-0079
300MHz Ultra 10 375-0009 & 375-0066
333MHz Ultra 5/10 375-0066 & 375-0079
360MHz Ultra 5/10 375-0066 & 375-0079
440MHz Ultra 5/10 375-0079
There are 2 ways to determine the part number of the Ultra 5/10 motherboards:
1. To determine the motherboard part number by physical appearance, look on
the left side of the system's front bezel for the serial number.
If the serial number is the only thing listed,
the motherboard is part number 375-0009
If PGX24 is also printed below the serial number,
the motherboard is part number 375-0066
If it says Series 3 or SR (possibly with PGX24 following),
the motherboard is part number 375-0079
2. To determine the motherboard part number remotely, use the command:
# prtconf -vp | grep 375
It will return either:
model: 'SUNW,375-0009'
or
model: 'SUNW,375-0066'
If it returns
"model: 'SUNW,375-0009'"
this is the correct motherboard part number.
If it returns
"model: 'SUNW,375-0066'"
it could be either a 375-0066 or a 375-0079.
At this point, to determine the motherboard part number, run:
# psrinfo -v
The output will show the speed at which the cpu runs:
The sparcv9 processor operates at XXX MHz
Note: The 360Mhz modules were used in both Ultra 5 & 10 motherboards. To
determine these motherboards remotely, it will be necessary to know whether
the machine is an Ultra 5 or 10 to begin with.
270MHz = 375-0066
333MHz = 375-0066
440MHz = 375-0079
480MHz = 375-0079
360MHz (if Ultra5) = 375-0079
360MHz (if Ultra10) = 375-0066
