NEW FEATURES FOR LIBMON 2.0
---------------------------
This release of Sun StorEdge LibMON provides the following
enhancements:
- LibAgent 2.0--
LibAgent is a storage library SNMP agent that allows remote detection
of significant tape library events via any Network Manager
application. LibAgent runs on the server where the library(ies) is
attached and forwards events in the form of SNMP traps to a Network
Management platform. The agent technology conforms to SNMP VI
specifications, which are supported by such products as Solstice(TM)
Site Manager(TM), HP OpenView, IBM NetView, and CA Unicenter TNG.
- Utilization of Java 1.1 class libraries--
The client portion of Sun StorEdge LibMON 2.0 is written entirely in
Java 1.1 programming language. The server portion is mostly Java 1.1
programming language with the exception of VERITAS and Perl code
needed to communicate with libraries over SCSI buses.
- Library Availability-Based Actions
These actions trigger e-mail and pager notifications or user-defined
commands, therefore allowing customers to take appropriate action
immediately after a library becomes unavailable.
- Threshold-Based Actions
These actions identify potential problems before they occur.
Threshold-based actions trigger e-mail and pager notifications or
user-defined commands, therefore allowing customers to take proactive
instead of reactive measures with regard to tape library
availability.
- Localization to Japanese--
Sun StorEdge LibMON 2.0 is being localized into Japanese.
