PRODUCT: Solaris 8 with any of the following:
SunStorEdge A3x00
A3500 SCSI controller
RSM Array 2000
BUGID: 4206743
REFERENCES: For more information please have your Sun Account/Field
team refer to FIN #: I0566-1
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
RAID Manager 6 is currently not supported on Solaris 8, attempting to
boot Solaris 8 with RM 6.22 installed will produce an error message as
shown below;
"rdriver not loading, ie "drvconfig: driver failed to attach:
rdriver".
This means that the data on A3x00 arrays will not be accessible under
Solaris 8. This applies to all versions of RM 6.0, 6.1, 6.1.1, and
6.22 with Solaris 8.
Upon further investigation, the rdriver depended upon a kernel structure
which changed in Solaris 8, so a new rdriver is required for Solaris 8
to correct the RM 6 compatibility issue.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
Install patchId 108553-01 or higher
Patch 108553-01 is a Solaris 8 patch which must be installed after
the installation of Solaris 8. Raid Manager 6.22 must also be installed
before the patch is applied. The patch contains explicit directions
for installing the necessary rdriver.
The current version of firmware included in RM 6.22, 03.01.02.xx.apd,
needs to be installed as part of the normal RM 6.22 installation.
The purpose of the patch 108553-01 is for users running on Solaris 8 or
in the process of upgrading to Solaris 8.
Installation instruction scenarios:
1. Installation of patch 108553-01 after a full initial install of Solaris 8.
full initial install of Solaris 8
install RM6.22
install patch 108553
boot -r
If you have existing A3x00/A1000 LUNs other than zero:
genscsiconf
hot_add
boot -r
endif
2. Installation of patch 108553-01 after upgrade install of Solaris 8.
upgrade install Solaris 8
boot -r
If you don't have RM 6.22
Install RM 6.22 and patch 108553
boot -r
else
Install patch 108553
endif
genscsiconf
