Basic Information to Collect when Troubleshooting Sunray Problems

1. What kind of icon is on the Sunray box. For example:

- an hourglass with how many dashes

- newt cursor, etc.

2. The color of the led light on the Sunray

3. The Solaris version on the Sunray server

4. Hardware of Sunray Server

- What kind of machine (i.e. Ultra)

- How much memory (at least 256mb)

- How much disk space

5. What kind of switch, and what speed are they using

6. Check to make sure the machine is not a router

7. /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utadm -p results will provide information about interconnect

8. For dhcp issues, get:

- /var/dhcp/dhcptab file

- any network file such as 128_168_192_0, or so, under /var/dhcp directory

9. dhtadm -p results will give information about dhcp

10. If there is a problem installing the Sunray server, remove the Sunray software and reload it.

11. Obtain the log file /var/opt/SUNWut/log for any errors

12. Make sure that utauthd and utsessiond daemons are running

ps -ef | grep -i utauthd

ps -ef | grep -i utsessiond

13. Make sure that dhcpd daemon is running

ps -ef | grep -i dhcpd

14. If there are problems with administration tool from the web reporting Incorrect passwd, make sure the customer is using netscape 4.5.1 and above. They should not be using hotjava.

15. Obtain showrev -p results

The above will help in troubleshooting what is going on.
