25802 | Is SunRay Supported on Trusted Solaris 8? | 25 Apr 2001 |
Status | Issued |
Description |
SunRay is not supported in the FCS version Trusted Solaris 8 Operating Environment, which is based on Solaris 8 update 3. It is unknown whether it will be in the Evaluated update of the Trusted Solaris 8 Operating Environment.
A note on the meaning of "evaluated" -- this means evaluated as meeting the security requirements of the Common Criteria. The Common Criteria project harmonizes the various evaluation criteria, ITSEC, CTCPEC (Canadian criteria), and United States Federal Criteria (FC), to replace national and regional criteria with a worldwide set acceptable to the International Standards Organization (ISO).
Although Trusted Solaris 8 4/01 will be evaluated, the evaluated configuration will not include the SunRay or its server software, even if SunRay support makes it into that version.
When Trusted Solaris 8 passes evaluation, any changes will go into the "evaluated version" which will be called Trusted Solaris 8 4/01. Since there are other fixes and features going in at the same time, "evaluation" will only be one of several features -- there will be some other features from Solaris 8 Update 4, which will be announced in the future.
