Description |
Procedure for installing the Netra T1 Model AC200 or DC200 from cdrom using
Solaris 8 Update 2 (10/00) or Solaris 8 Update 3 (01/01)
**Note: Solaris 8 Update 4 (4/01) fully supports the Netra T1 Model AC200 or DC200.
Currently the minimum Operating Environment support for the AC200 or DC200 is
Solaris 8 Update 2 (10/00).
The following document was written to install using that specific revision of the
Operating Environment with a separate note below for the Solaris 8 Update 3 (1/01) release.
** Note: If installing using the Solaris 8 Update 3 (1/01), follow this
procedure omitting the following content in each of the respective sections
stated below:
Section 1. Omit
Section 3 & 4. Omit adding patch 110383-01 as it is already included in
Solaris 8 Update 3 (1/01).
Section 6: Omit
1. Perform the following commands in the OpenBoot PROM (OBP) .
ok nvedit 0:prepare-for-installation 1: ^C ok nvstore ok setenv use-nvramrc? true ok setenv auto-boot? false ok reset-all
2. Install Solaris 8 Update 2 (10/00) by following the instructions in the
documentation supplied with the cd media. To begin the installation, begin
booting off the Solaris 8 Software (1 of 2) cdrom.
Example:
ok boot cdrom
3. When the installation is finished, the AC200/DC200 will reboot from the
newly installed Operating Environment. Next, download the following patches
from Sunsolve (http://sunsolve.sun.com) and install in the following order:
110383-01 SunOS 5.8: libnvpair patch (Prerequisite for 108528-06)
108528-06 Kernel Update Patch
109793-06 SunOS 5.8: su patch
4. You may wish to unzip the patches to a directory other than /tmp to install.
First, unzip the patches using the 'unzip' utility. When done, bring the system
down to single user mode and administer the patches in the following order and
syntax. This example uses /export/home as the directory that contains the patches.
# init S
# patchadd -M /export/home 110383-01
# patchadd -M /export/home 108528-06
# patchadd -M /export/home 109793-06
5. When patches are finished installing, bring system back down to run level 0.
Example:
# init 0
6. Set the following BootPROM (OBP) variables to the respective values listed below:
ok setenv use-nvramrc? false ok set-default nvramrc ok printenv nvramrc --) should be reset to a null value ok setenv auto-boot? true 7. The newly installed AC200/DC200 should be ready to boot now.
Example:
ok boot disk
To install the Lights Out Management (LOM) software, use the CD entitled
"Software Supplement for the Solaris 8 Operating Environment". The LOMlite2
software is in the following directory:
../Netra_t_Lights_Out_Management_2.0.
SUNWlomm "Manual pages for LOMlite driver and utility"
SUNWlomr "LOMlite 32 and 64-bit drivers (root) " * Prerequisite for SUNWlomu
SUNWlomu "Utilities and Daemon used to support LOMlite (usr) "
# cd /cdrom/cdrom0/Netra_t_Lights_Out_Management_2.0/Product # pkgadd -d . --) accepting the default will install the packages in the correct order.
Once these packages are installed successfully, apply the latest LOM patch:
110208-08 (currently rev 08) using the following syntax.
Unzip the patch 110208, change the permissions on the patch directory, and add
the patch. This example uses /export/home as the directory where the patch
resides.
# cd /export/home # unzip 110208-08.zip # chmod -R 777 /export/home/110208-08 # patchadd -M /export/home 110208-08
Unzip and add each of the following patches using the unzip and patchadd
utility. This example uses /export/home as the directory where the patch resides.
108974-xx (-09 or later) dada, uata, dad, sd and scsi patch 108664-xx (-06 or later) Support for Network Server Provider platforms (ide)
Example:
# cd /export/home # unzip 108974-09.zip # patchadd -M /export/home 108974-09
Your Netra AC200/DC200 Operating system installation is now complete.
