Description |
Following are the steps to set up a USB printer to a Sun Ray (TM)..
"You must be root to set up a printer"
1.) Connect the USB cable between the Sunray unit and the printer
2.) Get the MAC address of the Sunray unit.
# cd /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.<mac_id>
3.) Locate printer port
# cd /dev/printers # pwd /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.<mac_id>/dev/printers # ls epson0662502174r0rxhr (epson USB-parallel adaptor)
4.) Bring up admintool, follow Browse->Printers->Edit->Add->LocalPrinter
5.) Type in printername and printer port (from step 3)
Example: /tmp/SUNWut/units/IEEE802.080020d15ef2/dev/printers/epson0662502174r0rxhr
6.) Click "OK" and enter other printer info
7.) Verify printer setup
# lpstat -d <printername>
***If non-Postscript printer, probably need Ghostscript or equivalent filter for proper Solaris printing***
