Sun Fire (3800-6800): Navigating Between Shells The navigation between shells in the Sun Fire servers differs depending upon the method of connection. This document is divided into 2 sections which describe: 1. Shell navigation from a telnet session. 2. Shell navigation from a tip session.
NOTE: The term "shells" refers to the different command prompts for the SC (system controller), domain and the ok prompt.
(1) Navigating from a "telnet" session ================================================================================ From - Initial telnet session To - Platform Shell select "0" from this menu that will be presented upon telnet: ---------------------------- Type 0 for Platform Shell Type 1 for domain A console Type 2 for domain B console Type 3 for domain C console Type 4 for domain D console ----------------------------- Selecting "0" will go to the following prompt: SC> ================================================================================ From - Initial telnet session To - domain A console (skip going to Platform Shell) select "1" from this menu ----------------------------- Type 0 for Platform Shell Type 1 for domain A console Type 2 for domain B console Type 3 for domain C console Type 4 for domain D console ----------------------------- There are 3 possibilities of results from above example. #1. If "setkeyswitch on" has been previously executed from Domain Shell before this telnet session, but "boot"command has not been run from the OK prompt, then "1" will take you to the ok prompt for domain A. #3. If "setkeyswitch on" has been previously run before this telnet session and "boot" has been executed from OK prompt, then "1" will take you to the Solaris login for domain A. If #2 or #3 are true (does not go directly to domain console in those cases), here is how to step back to the domain A console: enter: CTRL ], which will go to the telnet prompt.
