Description |
1.) Install the Hayes compatible (modem that responds to 'at' commands) ONLY on Port B (ttyb) of either the Sun Fire V120 or V100. Note: There is some concern about Port A providing a DTR signal, so use Port B. 2.) Configure the modem cable in accordance to the pinouts below. RJ45 Signal Modem (DB25) 1 RTS 4 2 DTR 20 3 TXD 2 4 Sig Grd 1 5 Sig Grd 7 6 RXD 3 7 DCD(DSR) 8 8 CTS 5 3.) Using Admintool, configure the modem for bi-directional. If unable to run Admintool, add the following ttyb line to /etc/saf/zsmon/_pmtab. Restart SAC. # VERSION=1 ttyb:u:root:reserved:reserved:reserved:/dev/term/b:b::/usr/bin/login:120:38400:ldterm,ttcompat:login\: ::dialup:n:#Modem - Bidirectional 4.) Using TIP, configure the actual modem for dial-in. This will also sync the modem with the computer to avoid garbage logins. # tip -38400 /dev/cua/b Connected at ok at&f (reset to factory) ats0=1 (AutoAnswer on 1 ring. that's a zero) ok at&c1&s1&d2 (sets DCD and DTR to transition) ok at&w (write permanent) <cr> ~ .
