Sun Fire[TM] 3800-6800: Upgrading the firmware from 5.11.X or 5.12.X to 5.14.X |
|
19 Dec 2002 |
When you upgrade the Sun Fire[TM] 3800-6800 systems' firmware from 5.11.X or 5.12.X
to version 5.14.X you may be unable to successfully upgrade the SC0 and SC1.
Here is what you need to do to resolve the issue.
** Make sure the SC0 and SC1 are connected to a private 10BaseT hub. Then connect
** the hub to the public network. Make sure you only have the SC0 and SC1 connected to this
** private hub.
++ Follow the directions in the Install.info file which are included with patch 112883.
++ Please read this Install.info file completely.
Outline of directions from the Install.info file.
1. Set up FTP server.
2. SHUT DOWN the OS on all domains.
3. Verify that the power is on on all boards.
4. Connect via SERIAL port to SC1 FIRST.
5. flashupdate -f ftp://<URL> scapp rtos
The SC1 will automatically be rebooted.
6. Connect via SERIAL port to SC0 next.
7. flashupdate -f ftp://<URL> scapp rtos
The SC0 will automatically be rebooted.
8. Next update the rest of the boards via command:
flashupdate -f ftp://<URL> all rtos
This will also automatically reboot the SC.
NOTE: The first SC reboot after a successful update from
5.11.x or 5.12.x firmware may take up to 20 minutes
to complete due in part to updating of internal
system records. Other factors include POST level
setting and configuration. While these factors
may affect the speed of subsequent reboots, the
updating of system records occurs only once.
9. Verify that ScApp and RTOS have been upgraded by running
'showboards -p version' on the platform shell.
