SRDB ID   Synopsis   Date
15797   RM6 - RSM/2000 - unable to create more than one LUN   14 Nov 2000

Status Issued

Description
On a RSM/2000 hardware RAID device, you find that you can only create one
LUN (lun #0). Any attempts to create additional LUNS result in the LUN
being "formatting" seemingly forever in the 'RM6' GUI, or, if using the
'raidutil' command to create it, ending with the message:

	Can't open device 1T64912345:1 status = 8. Aborting
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
When the RSM/2000 software is installed onto the system, it modifies the
/kernel/drv/sd.conf file to add additional entries for SCSI disk devices
for LUNs 1 thru 7 (see below). The standard /kernel/drv/sd.conf file only
contains entries only for LUN 0.

If by chance the original sd.conf file was restored onto this system and
is causing this problem, replace it with the new RSM/2000 version, reboot,
and you will be able to create a second LUN.

Listed below is the new, RSM/2000 version of this file. The standard
version only contained those entries above the comments.
