RAID 5 lun create hangs shows locked in RM6 gui cannot unlock or delete RM6.1 |
|
14 Nov 2000 |
New RM6.1 installation, seven luns were created. The sixth ran fine; however,
the seventh, which was a RAID 5 lun with four disks, hangs. Hang means it was
there for two days.
The RM6 GUI showed locked and not optimal for this lun.
healtck passed
format showed the lun
fsck passed on the lun
However RM6 gui still showed it locked
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
We tried several times to remove /etc/raid/locks/lunlocks.lock as well as
<raid_name>.lock and restart RM6 gui. When the gui came lock files were
put back by the system and the lun showed as locked again.
While looking through processes running on the system that still accessing
the lun that was locked up, found:
raidutil.exec -q -c <c*t*d* -r slow -n 6 -l 5 ........
and /etc/raid/bin/add_disk
These processes could not be killed.
Th system was rebooted. When system came back up, the lock and these processes
were gone and lun was now marked as 'optimal'
