After array install, cannot see Raid Modules in RM6 GUI |
|
14 Nov 2000 |
After a new installation of StorEdge A1000 or A3000, cannot see the Raid Modules
in the RM6 GUI. Can see the devices in format and they look healthy using the
lad command and other command-line utilities.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
Check for an extraneous "." in the /etc/osa/mnf file after the name of
the raid module. By default this should be hostname_001 (for the first
module) after installation. If there is a trailing ".", remove it or,
better yet, remove the whole mnf file and restart the rm6 application.
Another possible cause is a "fully qualified" hostname (eg. the hostname
command returns hostname.domain). This is not a valid hostname - the
domain should only be added on by the nameservice. Run sys-unconfig
and rename the system, then remove the /etc/osa/mnf file. On starting
rm6, you should now see all the raid modules.
