OE CD Install does not allow Software Customization |
|
29 Dec 1999 |
When using the Operating Environment CD to load Solaris 2.5.1 HW 11/97 or
2.6 HW 5/98 on Ultra systems with 440+ MHz processors, the Java-based GUI
installation process does not allow Software Customization. The Ultra
systems are Ultra 5s, 10s, 60s or 80s.
It will allow the choice of cluster to install, but not a "customize"
button which normally allows packages to be added or subtracted.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
The only way to customize the operating system on these systems during
the installation is to use Solaris 7. This also takes care of the 440MHz
processor issue and eliminates the need for the Operating Environment CD.
Otherwise, it will be necessary to use AdminTool Software Administration
to add or remove packages after the 2.5.1 or 2.6 installation.
