Status | Issued |
Description |
The customer could not get 2 of her drives to unmount the tapes in an L1000. The customer was running netbackup.
The following messages were generated when trying to unmount the tapes on two of the drives.

Apr 25 22:17:09 tapel1k tldcd [2120] : TLD (0) key = 0x5, asc = 0x3b, ascq = 0xd, MEDIUM DESTINATION ELEMENT FULL
The drive(s) is then disabled.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:It was found that the customer had placed tapes into the library while there were tapes in two of the four drives. The only slots available in the library were the ones that held the two tapes that were in the drives. The robot put the two new tapes into the only two slots availble and thus left no place for the tapes in the drives to go when the dismount command was issued. As a result, the drives were disabled.
Solution is to remove the tapes from the slots indicated and re-inventory the library. Up the drives and try again. Now the tapes have a slot to go to and all is well.
