A3500FC not seen by server after reinstall of Solaris (TM) Operating Environment 2.6

After reinstalling Solaris 2.6, the server could no longer communicate with an A3500FC. All Solaris and RM 6.22 patches are installed. The array could not be seen with either format or lad.

healthck -a gives an error: no modules on this system

lad fails with: sse driver failed to attach, no arrays were found

We determined with dmesg that the server had an FC100 hba which requires patch 107280. Upon installing the patch, an error was reported stating that the packages required were not installed. patchadd then terminated.

The required ifp packages for the FC100 hba on Solaris 2.6 are not on the Solaris install cd. These packages can be found on the install cd that comes with the FC100 hba or on later releases of the OS (Solaris 7 & 8). Install these ifp packages, then the 107280 patch.

Important note: The array must either be disconnected or shutdown during the pkgadd of the ifp packages or the system may spontaneously reboot!

Note: The ifp packages and patch 107280 only apply to PCI systems.
