Description |
On Solaris 8, after installing Sun Ray 1.2 software with the ./utinstall script, you have to add the interface for the sun ray network with the "utadm -a" command.
You may get an error message indicating failure when trying to configure the dhcp .
Error: stopping dhcp
starting dhcp
using /usr/lib/inet/dhcp/svcadm , unable to configure dhcptab.
This error is caused because the new version (7/01) of solaris 8 tries to use the
/usr/lib/inet/dhcp/svcadm script to configure the SunRay interface (dhcp), while the old versions used the /usr/lib/inet/in.dhcpd script.
Check out to see if the directory /usr/lib/inet/dhcp exists. In case it does, it is strongly recommended to reinstall the older version of the Solaris to get rid of the problem.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
The SunRay 1.2 software only works with the /usr/lib/inet/in.dhcpd script to configure the dhcp. At this time, the solution is for the customer to install and old version of Solaris 8. Need to install 4/01 or earlier. ,
