40331 | User's can't self-register smartcards from Sun Ray (TM) terminals | 25 Jan 2002 |
Status | Issued |
Description |
Users with Sun Ray (TM) smartcards want to self-register their cards, and then do their remote login. However, the registration screen seems to require a local Unix login.
# Reading policy file: /etc/opt/SUNWut/policy/utpolicy
# Current Policy:
/opt/SUNWut/sbin/utpolicy -a -r card -s card -z pseudo
If users can't self-register, then there is no reasonable way of tracking who is using remote login to another site from one of our Sun Rays.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
By setting policy to :
/opt/SUNWut/sbin/utpolicy -a -r card -s card -z pseudo -p
you can eliminate the need for a local unix login. This allows for self-registration, without user authentication.
(For details, check the man page for utpolicy)
