Description |
flashupdate doesn't update ScApp (and RTOS)
Symptom: flashupdate -f < URL > all rtos is issued and the System Controller updates the boards, but then fails to update ScApp (and RTOS if updating from 5.11.x firmware). The SC reboots, but reboots right into the previous version of ScApp without updating. This issue may occur updating to 5.12.5 as well.
SOLUTION SUMMARY:Workaround:
Insert an unmanaged hub between the SC and the network switch and attempt to flashupdate again. The unmanaged hub may keep the network switch from resetting and blocking network access during the SC reboot. flashupdate ScApp (and RTOS) from VxWorks. Contact the GSCC (http://gscc) in your GEO for assistance.
Notes:
We believe this issue to only occur in more complex networking environments using managed switches in a VLAN environment. Specifically, those which employ Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). This issue is fixed in 5.13.0. However as the problem is not fixed until after 5.13.0 has been successfully installed, you may experience this problem upgrading from anything before 5.13.0.
