Status | Issued |
Description |
When you are attempting a firmware upgrade on the StorEdge[TM] 3310 (Minnow) using the Sun Storedge Configuration Console (GUI) and you select the controller to be upgraded with the bin file (SUN325O-3310.bin) and begin the upgrade, shortly after it begins it hits 79% and errors out with "Firmware Download Completed With Error Code: 0x030B1702"
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
To fix this issue it has been said you can pull out one of the controllers and try again, I have not been able to confirm this. After receiving the above error and attempting the one controller trick it still failed with the same error.
The procedure I used to download the firmware successfully was to use a laptop. Below is the procedure used.
1. Connect your null modem cable to the laptop and the array.
2. Bring up hyper terminal, Start-->Programs-->Accessories-->Communications-->Hyper Terminal
3. This will bring up a prompt for Connection Description, enter any name you want, I used Minnow.
4. You will then be presented with a connect to dialog box, select connect using: and select your appropriate COM port mine was COM1.
5. This will bring you to another dialog box, this is for COM port settings, change the speed to 38400 to match that of the 3310. Verify the following settings data bits: 8 parity: none stop bit 1 flow control: Hardware
6. Once you click OK you should be connected press ctrl+l (Control + the letter L). Use PC Graphic(ANSI Mode)
7. Arrow down to system Functions or press the letter f.
8. Select Controller maintenance and Download firmware.
9. You will be prompted to set the speed to 9600 however you can select ignore, it's a bit slower.
10. You should now be at the "Downloading code only. Leaving boot record intact.." screen.
11. Now from the Windows Hyperterminal select Transfer from the top menu items and select Send File...
12. You will be presented with yet another dialog box (Got to love windows) Click the browse button and locate the firmware file on your laptop. Change to protocol to Zmodem and click send. You will wait approximately 6 minutes for it to complete.
13. Escape through the notices about bus resets and firmware updated then you will most likely need to do another ctrl+l.
14. Back at the main menu verify the new firmware load by selecting view system Information.
For screen shots of the above windows go to Minnow Section on barkley on the bottom left.
