Sun[tm] System Handbook: Internal/Partner Edition 2.1 CD README
The Sun System Handbook is intended to be a single source resource for information on Sun hardware products. The Sun System Handbook: Internal/Partner 2.1 CD is derived from the online version of the Sun System Handbook currently located on a Sun web site, and it is designed to be a reflection of the web site for ease of use. The Sun System Handbook: Internal/Partner 2.1 CD uses Java[tm]-based technology and a web-server framework solution to make the Sun System Handbook experience virtually identical on multiple operating system platforms. No disk space or installation is required to use the Sun System Handbook: Internal/Partner 2.1 CD. Software Requirements
Note: The Sun System Handbook CD has not been fully tested on Mac OS X (10.1.3) or RedHat Linux 7.2, but it does work on both operating systems (run the syshbk.sh script from a terminal window). Refer to Accessing the Sun System Handbook Without a Search Engine if your system does not meet the system requirements or if you don't need to use the search engine. of JRE installed, enter the following command in a terminal window (Solaris)

If JRE 1.3.1 or later is not installed on the system, go to Installing JRE 1.3.1. Installing JRE 1.3.1You can install JRE 1.3.1 from the following locations:
Note: You must run the JRE 1.3.1 Solaris shell script from a directory where you would like the files to be installed. Also, after you install JRE 1.3.1 on a Solaris system, make sure the directory where you installed the j2re1_3_1_02/bin directory is part of your path environment variable. Refer to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-solaris.html for detailed installation instructions. Whenever you are finished using the Sun System Handbook, click the Stop button on the Sun System Handbook Server window to stop the web server for the search engine.
